If being ‘in love’ means our lives are in pieces and we are completely broken, miserable, utterly consumed, hardly able to function, and willing to sacrifice everything, chances are it’s not love. Despite what we are taught in popular culture, true love is not supposed to make us like drug addicts.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man Workout
“Since 2003, [Robert Downey Jr.] has trained using the Wing Chun technique made famous by Bruce Lee, a discipline that’s become a part of his daily routine.”
“This is all about focus. Wing Chun teaches you what to concentrate on, whether you’re here or out in the world dealing with problems. It’s second nature for me now. I don’t even get to the point where there’s a problem.”
Though no one would ever think of using the term honor violence (we reserve that descriptor for brown people who live somewhere else, motivated by religious something-or-other or tribal something-or-other), one-third of women murdered every year in the United States are killed by their intimate partners. In 2005 that amounted to 1,181 women, or three women every day. To put that in perspective, the UN estimates there are 5,000 honor killings every year in the entire world. 5,000 in a world of 6 billion versus nearly 1,200 in a single country of 300 million. In other words, a woman in America runs a greater risk of being killed by her husband or boyfriend than a woman in Pakistan.

It’s like being mad at someone for not knowing a foreign language, when all they’ve ever known is their own. You could, of course, get mad at them for not ever realizing that there are other languages, but what good does that do? Also, they may have been told growing up that there weren’t any other languages, and it wasn’t until later that they learned the truth.
Of course, “languages” is just a metaphor, but considering that social justice movements (especially online ones, it seems) have their own language, and definitions, I think it’s a valid one. Thoughts?
However, if they’re doing everything wrong, then coaxing them toward the right information and the right people is always a good thing. When you’re new you’re basically groping for any piece of information that comes your way and may not even know where to start looking for information. Guiding someone who’s new is always helpful because it means that they can still form their own ideas, and learn on their own, but also be given accurate and good information if you steer them in the right direction.
The usual condition attained by man engaged in meditation or in works with an eye on reward, can be described in words; the unique condition attained by the yogi, engaged in meditation or work, without an eye on reward, is beyond description.
